Wynn delay highlights new geopolitical reality for Gulf projects

Wynn Resorts disclosed that conflict disrupted construction at its casino resort in the UAE, drawing attention to geopolitical risks facing large-scale projects across the Gulf. The company confirmed Wynn Al Marjan Island will now open in September 2027.

When the project was announced in January 2022, Wynn targeted a 2026 launch. The timeline was later revised to Q1 2027 and has now been pushed back again. The update came with the company's Q2 results.

An analyst noted that investors can no longer assume the region is insulated from instability. The Wynn delay marks a shift in how geopolitical risk is priced into Gulf development.
