Ilitch Gaming completes takeover of Ocean Casino Resort in Atlantic City

Ilitch Gaming has completed the acquisition of the remaining 50% stake in Ocean Casino Resort in Atlantic City, New Jersey. The deal was announced in June 2026; the operator acquired the first half in 2021.

The resort spans more than 20 acres on the waterfront and includes 1,860 rooms, a 135,000-square-foot casino floor, a 4,500-seat concert venue and 160,000 square feet of conference space. It houses restaurants by chefs Stephen Starr and José Garces, the Exhale spa and HQ2 Beachclub.

'Atlantic City remains one of the most important gaming markets in the country, and full control of Ocean is a key step for us,' said John Policicchio, CEO of Ilitch Gaming. Over five years of co-ownership the company invested in room renovations and operational efficiency.

The transaction follows the creation of Ilitch Gaming in June 2026, a new platform to manage gaming assets for parent Ilitch Companies. Beyond Ocean, the portfolio includes MotorCity Casino Hotel in Detroit, Michigan; in June the company also announced the purchase of Scarlet Pearl Casino Resort in D'Iberville, Mississippi. Both deals await regulatory approval.
