Macau casino gross gaming revenue fell 3.8% year on year in the third quarter of 2026, and 1.3% from the second quarter, data from the DICJ shows. The decline landed inside the 3–5% range HSBC was tracking in mid-September.
Mass baccarat, the largest revenue line, generated MOP33.61 billion for July to September. That is 7.9% below a year earlier and 4.4% below the prior quarter, a sequential loss of roughly MOP2.88 billion. Its share of total casino GGR dropped to 55.8% from 58.3% in the third quarter of 2025. The whole mass segment, which also takes in slots and electronic tables, delivered MOP43.31 billion: down 5.2% year on year and 71.9% of quarterly GGR.
VIP baccarat edged up 0.1% year on year to MOP16.91 billion and 6.3% quarter on quarter. Its share rose to 28.1% from 27%. The DICJ counts VIP revenue by table classification inside integrated resorts. The six concessionaires report on a different basis and usually put a smaller slice of income in VIP, so the bureau's figures do not compare directly with operator reporting.
Slots were the exception: up 18.8% year on year to MOP4.09 billion, with their share climbing to 6.8% from 5.5%. Live multi-game electronic products lost 8% and slipped to MOP1.14 billion. Outside the casinos, football betting brought in MOP152 million, up 21% on the previous quarter and the best quarterly result since the third quarter of 2018.
Nine-month totals
GGR across all categories reached MOP187.66 billion for the nine months. Hitting the 2026 budget target of MOP236 billion ($29.2 billion) needs about MOP48 billion in the fourth quarter, well below the recent quarterly pace. Chief Executive Sam Hou Fai said the forecast stands for now, and the authorities will look at October revenue before any possible revision.
The quarter ended weakly. September GGR fell 1.2% year on year to MOP18.06 billion ($2.24 billion), the lowest monthly figure of 2026. In the first six days of October, over Golden Week, arrivals topped one million.
