Allwyn appoints Betsson veteran Fredrik Ögren as group CTO

Allwyn AG has named Fredrik Ögren as group CTO. He joins from Betsson Group, where he spent five years as chief technology officer, and reports to Kresimir Spajic, CEO of Allwyn Digital.

At Betsson, Ögren led technology strategy and the development of large platforms supporting expansion across several jurisdictions, including the recent acquisition of the Canadian B2C business Rhino Entertainment Group. That platform work across markets was the argument for the hire. At Allwyn he will own group-wide strategy and its execution: the company wants a more connected and efficient ecosystem, faster growth, stronger market positions and a better customer experience. For operators, the signal is that the digital push holds.

Spajic called Ögren's expertise decisive for building a more scalable platform and improving the experience for customers and partners. Ögren said technology is critical to the gaming experience and to long-term business success, and that the task is to strengthen the group's capabilities and take it into its next phase of growth.

Technology bench

Brett Cross, who was interim group CTO, moves to CTO global lottery and deputy group CTO, reporting directly to Ögren. Allwyn describes the move as building a strong technology team for the next stage of growth.

The appointment lands during a period of rapid expansion. Spajic has said more M&A is coming, with some talks under way and no urgency to close deals. Allwyn earlier named Francesco Rodano, a former Playtech executive, as group head of responsible gaming. Phil Walker, formerly of William Hill, became CEO of Allwyn UK in August.
