Coljuegos health collections rise 39% through August on sports betting growth in Colombia

Colombia's gambling regulator Coljuegos collected COP 977,220bn for the country's subsidised health system between January and August 2026, up 39.38% from COP 701,121bn in the same period last year.

Sports betting drove the increase. The vertical grew 84.24% amid activity around the football World Cup. Online sports betting operators contributed COP 473,023bn, nearly half of total collections for the period.

Land-based revenue also rose. Collections from juegos localizados — casino, bingo and slot games — climbed 12.25% from COP 250,217bn to COP 280,866bn. Among monopoly products, SuperAstro gained 4.88%, Baloto 13.17%, Baloto Revancha 36.37% and Miloto 28.98%.

Keno added to the total. The lottery launched on 1 April and is now offered by four operators across more than 26,000 terminals in 32 departments. Coljuegos had previously forecast the product would generate around COP 500bn for health funding over its first five years.

Collections go to Colombia's subsidised health fund. The regulator said it will continue to promote the legal sector, tackle illegal gambling and increase contributions.
