The UK's Advertising Standards Authority has banned a Midnite ad featuring an AI-generated character who appeared under 25, while clearing White Hat Gaming of complaints over banners on an esports site.
ASA ruled against a TikTok video published in July showing a young man using the Midnite app, with a voiceover offering £10 matched with £30 in free bets on a World Cup fixture. The regulator found the character looked late teens or early twenties, breaching rule 16.3 of the CAP Code. Midnite operator Dribble Media said the video was created by affiliate Limay Media without approval and terminated the contract. Limay confirmed the character was AI-generated and the prompt aimed for an adult, but ASA noted the prompt contained no explicit instruction to appear 25 or older and no verification took place. This is the third ASA ruling against Midnite in 2026. A month ago the operator was banned from advertising that framed betting as an escape from problems, drawing 125 complaints.
In a separate case, ASA reviewed banners for Casimba and The Grand Ivy Casino on HLTV.org, a Counter-Strike 2 news site. The ads offered a 100% first-deposit bonus up to £100 and carried 18+ warnings. White Hat Gaming paused the placement during the investigation and demonstrated that HLTV's audience consists of adult esports fans, not casual players. ASA confirmed users under 18 made up less than the 25% threshold and the site's content targets adults. No breach of rules 16.1 or 16.3.13 was found.
