unix-goto-development — Claude Code skill: build unix-goto features
Walks an agent through adding features to the unix-goto navigation tool: a 9-step workflow, 100% test coverage, and sub-100ms cached navigation.
npx skills add manutej/luxor-claude-marketplace --skill unix-goto-development -a claude-codeWhat unix-goto-development does
The skill lays out how unix-goto is put together: the goto.sh loader, modules for cache, bookmarks and history, and the order they must load in. goto-function.sh comes last because it depends on everything else. Get that order wrong and commands like back or recent won't find their functions.
Feature work follows nine steps. Planning comes first — what problem it solves, what the command interface looks like, what performance target applies. Then you create the module, wire it into the loader, and route the command from the main function. Tests and docs close it out. Naming rules are fixed: public functions carry no prefix, internal ones use a double underscore, environment variables always get a default. Return codes are set too: 0 for success, 1 for a general error, 2 when a cache lookup hits several matches.
The skill asks for 100% coverage on core features and treats 100ms as the ceiling for cached navigation. One-off shell scripts don't belong here — there is nothing to test or tune. Linear work items show up as references like CET-77.
What it helps with
- add a new command to unix-goto without breaking module load order
- run a feature from planning through docs in nine steps
- push core-feature test coverage to 100%
- keep cached navigation under the 100ms target
- tie a Linear issue to the plan for a new feature
Example prompts for the agent
- Plan a new unix-goto command using the 9-step workflow: I want a list of recent directories
- Check the load order in
goto.sh—back-command.shhas to come afterhistory-tracking.sh - Write tests for
cache-index.shso core features hit 100% coverage

Questions about unix-goto-development
How do I install unix-goto-development in Claude?
Run npx skills add manutej/luxor-claude-marketplace --skill unix-goto-development -a claude-code. The skill file then lives at ~/.claude/skills/unix-goto-development/SKILL.md.
What does unix-goto-development do?
It gives the agent the unix-goto architecture plus the 9-step feature workflow: plan, module, loader, integration, tests, docs, performance check.
When should I skip this skill?
For general bash scripting, shell tools unrelated to navigation, or projects with no performance requirements. Its coverage and timing rules just get in the way there.
