stripe-projects — Codex skill: what it does, how to install
Provisions databases, authentication, and third-party developer services through the Stripe Projects CLI. Generates environment variables and tracks project infrastructure.
npx skills add openai/plugins --skill stripe-projects -a codexWhat stripe-projects does
This skill searches and provisions infrastructure without manual sign-ups across multiple websites. It queries the Stripe catalog, initializes local configuration, and configures resources like databases, caches, or hosting providers.
Under the hood, the skill uses the official projects CLI plugin. It tracks infrastructure state inside the .projects/ folder and updates the project .env file directly. Do not edit .env by hand. The CLI acts as the single authority and overwrites unmanaged lines.
Stripe CLI version 1.40.0 or higher is required before starting. If your Stripe account lacks Projects access or prompts for browser authentication, automated execution halts until you finish onboarding manually.
What it helps with
- provision a managed database without leaving the terminal
- retrieve credentials for third-party cloud services
- sync service environment variables into a local
.env - inspect current project infrastructure and dependencies
Example prompts for the agent
- Search Stripe Projects for a Postgres provider and set it up
- List available authentication services in the catalog
- Add a custom project variable named APP_URL to the active environment
