stock-info-explorer — Claude Code skill: Yahoo Finance quotes and charts
Pulls Yahoo Finance data through yfinance, computes indicators on your machine and saves a PNG chart. Handy when you want a quick read on a ticker without leaving the terminal.
npx skills add sundial-org/awesome-openclaw-skills --skill stock-info-explorer -a claude-codeWhat stock-info-explorer does
One script, scripts/yf.py, run with uv run --script, gives you five modes. price returns the current quote (a bare ticker works too), fundamentals prints the key company figures, history draws the trend in ASCII, pro renders a high-resolution chart, and report does a text summary plus a Pro chart with Bollinger Bands, RSI and MACD, ending with a CHART_PATH: line. The default pro output shows volume and MA5/20/60 as candles; append line to switch the style.
Indicators are calculated locally from price history — Yahoo's ready-made series aren't reliable enough. So no API key is involved. Panels are opt-in flags: --rsi for RSI(14), --macd for MACD(12,26,9), --bb for Bollinger(20,2), --atr for ATR(14), and --vwap accumulates across the chosen range.
Symbols follow Yahoo's format: AAPL, BTC-USD, USDKRW=X, or a Korean listing like 005930.KS. Coverage varies by market — some symbols carry no volume at all, so their volume panel comes out empty. You need uv installed.
What it helps with
- check a ticker's latest price without opening a broker app
- produce a candlestick PNG with volume and moving averages
- add RSI and MACD panels to a chart in one command
- pull a short fundamentals snapshot of a company
- get a text summary and a chart image from a single call
Example prompts for the agent
- Show me the current quote for TSLA
- Build a pro chart for NVDA over 6mo with
--rsiand--macd - Run the report for 000660.KS over six months
