posterskill-academic-posters — Claude Code skill: paper to poster
Turns an Overleaf paper into a print-ready conference poster. The result is one HTML file with a drag-and-drop editor built in.
npx skills add reason-machines/trending-skills --skill posterskill-academic-posters -a claude-codeWhat posterskill-academic-posters does
The skill reads your Overleaf project and sorts the material into cards: abstract, method, results, conclusion. Everything lands in a single poster/index.html. React comes from a CDN, so there is no build step and no server to run.
Inside the file you get CARD_REGISTRY for card content, DEFAULT_LAYOUT for the column structure, and window.posterAPI for scripted changes from the console or Playwright. Drag column dividers to resize, click two diamond handles to swap cards, use A- and A+ for font size. Hit Copy Config to export the layout as JSON and hand it back to the agent, which rewrites DEFAULT_LAYOUT.
Clone the skill repo and your Overleaf project side by side before you start — the paper has to sit in overleaf/. Reference PDFs in references/ are optional and only steer the visual style. Claude asks for your project website URL at runtime. Printing goes through File → Print with margins set to None and background graphics on.
What it helps with
- build a conference poster from an existing Overleaf paper
- get a single HTML file with no build step or local server
- tune column and card layout by dragging in the browser
- export the current layout as JSON and feed it back to the agent
- measure leftover whitespace with
posterAPI.getWaste()
Example prompts for the agent
- Make a conference poster from my paper in
overleaf/ - Generate the poster and open
poster/index.htmlin my browser - Here is the layout JSON, update
DEFAULT_LAYOUTin the poster
