opencli-web-automation — Claude Code skill: setup and guide
Turns target websites into console utilities by tapping into live Chrome sessions. Useful when you need scraped data from authenticated portals without writing raw scripts.
npx skills add reason-machines/trending-skills --skill opencli-web-automation -a claude-codeWhat opencli-web-automation does
This skill instructs the agent to drive OpenCLI through the Playwright MCP Bridge. Instead of handling captchas or storing credentials, it connects directly to your active Chrome browser profile. The system ships with over 80 commands covering 19 sites like Reddit, Twitter, and YouTube, alongside open resources like Hacker News. New sites can be inspected directly: the tool crawls target endpoints, determines auth methods, and generates YAML or TypeScript adapters.
A running Chrome instance and Node.js version 18.0.0 or higher are strictly required. You must configure PLAYWRIGHT_MCP_EXTENSION_TOKEN after running opencli setup, otherwise commands targeting private pages fail immediately. Output flows cleanly into JSON, YAML, CSV, or Markdown.
What it helps with
- convert arbitrary web pages into interactive CLI utilities
- pull authenticated feed data directly from an active Chrome session
- inspect endpoints to auto-generate YAML site adapters
- export parsed browser tables into CSV, Markdown, or JSON
Example prompts for the agent
- Extract trending posts from Twitter into a JSON file with OpenCLI
- Explore https://example.com and synthesize a new YAML adapter
- Run an authenticated Reddit search via opencli and output markdown
