oci — Claude Code skill for Oracle Cloud: OKE, Functions, GenAI
An Oracle Cloud Infrastructure skill: designs OKE clusters, walks through Kubernetes incidents, and covers OCI Functions and Generative AI services.
npx skills add oracle/skills --skill oci -a claude-codeWhat oci does
This is a directory tree rather than one file. Kubernetes lives in oci/oke/: cluster design, incident troubleshooting, secondary VNICs via Generic VNIC Attachment, Multus, multi-interface pods. oci/functions/ handles local function deploys and failure diagnosis, oci/iot-platform/ covers IoT domains and digital twins, and oci/enterprise-ai/ deals with Generative AI models, Responses API agents, RAG, cost estimates and private endpoints.
A routing table picks the matching file, so the agent reads one narrow section instead of the whole tree. It leans on Oracle's official docs and read-only discovery commands before suggesting a fix. Guardrails sit at the same level: anything that creates, updates, deletes or restarts a resource waits for your explicit approval.
Two scripts get their own rules. oci/oke/scripts/gva-menu.sh builds a node pool only after the final CREATE confirmation, and oci/oke/scripts/node-doctor-run.sh spins up a temporary debug pod, so it needs sign-off too. Cluster design stays with this skill; SQL, vector work and Select AI are handed off to db/features/.
What it helps with
- design an OKE cluster plus the Terraform stack behind it
- trace why a service never gets a load balancer IP
- build a node pool with secondary VNIC profiles for one workload
- verify Multus pod networking on GVA-enabled nodes
- deploy an OCI Function locally and find why invocation fails
Example prompts for the agent
- Design a production OKE cluster and generate the Terraform stack
- My service has no load balancer address — work through

How to install oci
1Skills CLI (Vercel)
npx skills add oracle/skills --skill oci -a claude-code2Manually: put the files in place
~/.claude/skills/oci/SKILL.mdCopy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/oci/
1Skills CLI (Vercel)
npx skills add oracle/skills --skill oci -a codex2Manually: put the files in place
.agents/skills/oci/SKILL.mdFor all projects use ~/.agents/skills/
1Skills CLI (Vercel)
npx skills add oracle/skills --skill oci -a cursor2Manually: put the files in place
.cursor/skills/oci/SKILL.mdCursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/
1GitHub CLI
gh skill install oracle/skills oci2Manually: put the files in place
.github/skills/oci/SKILL.md1Skills CLI (Vercel)
npx skills add oracle/skills --skill oci -a gemini-cli2Platform CLI
gemini skills install https://github.com/oracle/skills --path ociManually: put the files in place
.devin/skills/oci/SKILL.mdThe legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works
Skills CLI (Vercel)

Questions about oci
How do I install the oci skill in Claude Code?
Run npx skills add oracle/skills --skill oci -a claude-code. The skill file lands at ~/.claude/skills/oci/SKILL.md.
What does the oci skill do?
It gives the agent a reference for Oracle Cloud Infrastructure: Kubernetes on OKE, OCI Functions, the IoT platform and Enterprise AI. A routing table selects the right section.
Does the skill change cloud resources on its own?
No. Create, update, delete and restart commands run only after you approve them, and the node pool and debug pod scripts ask for a separate confirmation.
