Nia — Claude Code skill: search your indexed sources
Puts repositories, docs, papers, datasets and chat workspaces into an index, then searches them through the Nia API. Useful when the agent needs the real source instead of a trimmed web page.
npx skills add nozomio-labs/nia-skill --skill nia -a claude-codeWhat Nia does
The skill wires your agent to the Nia API through a set of wrappers in ./scripts/. With them you add a source to the index, list what is already there, read a file, grep its contents or walk the file tree. Repositories, documentation, Slack, Google Drive and X each get their own script, and nia.sh sources prints the whole inventory in one call.
The workflow it enforces is check-first: look for the source in the index before reaching for the web. The reasoning is that an indexed source hands back complete code and docs, while a web fetch gives you a shortened version. One caveat is spelled out — search.sh universal does not cover Slack, so use search.sh query with the SLACK_WORKSPACES variable or slack.sh instead.
You need a key before anything runs: NIA_API_KEY in the environment or a file at ~/.config/nia/api_key, and the environment variable wins if both exist. Get one through auth.sh signup plus auth.sh bootstrap-key, through npx nia-wizard@latest, or by signing up on the site. The only dependencies are curl and jq. Indexing a source takes 1-5 minutes, so searching it right away gets you nothing.
What it helps with
- find a function in a third-party repo without cloning it
- read a docs page in full instead of a search snippet
- keep papers, datasets and team chats in one searchable place
- check what is already indexed before hitting the web
- push a PDF or spreadsheet into the index via a signed URL
Example prompts for the agent
- Run
./scripts/nia.sh sourcesand tell me what is indexed, then find queue examples there - Index

SLACK_WORKSPACESfor anything about the deploy
