nodejs-development · manutej — Claude Code skill: Node.js without blocking
A Node.js reference skill for your coding agent: event loop phases, promises, streams, file system. Useful when the agent writes backend code or CLI tools.
npx skills add manutej/luxor-claude-marketplace --skill nodejs-development -a claude-codeWhat nodejs-development does
The skill gives the agent a working picture of Node.js internals. Covered: the phases of the event loop, CommonJS versus ES modules, and built-in modules such as fs, path, http and crypto. A separate section walks through callbacks, promises and async/await, with Promise.all, Promise.race and Promise.allSettled shown side by side.
Blocking is treated as a first-class problem. fs.readFileSync halts the whole process, so the examples swap it for fs.promises.readFile, and CPU-heavy work moves into worker_threads. That matters on a hot path: left alone, an agent will happily keep the synchronous call.
One command installs it. The npx skills add line drops SKILL.md into the skills directory of whichever platform you pick. GitHub Copilot uses gh skill install instead. Node.js and npm are all you need to run the examples.
What it helps with
- find out why a synchronous call stalls the whole server
- convert a callback chain into async/await
- move heavy computation into worker_threads
- build an HTTP server without Express
- read several files at once with Promise.all
Example prompts for the agent
- Rewrite this handler with async/await and drop the synchronous file read
- Why does my script log in the wrong order? Walk me through the event loop phases
- Move this calculation into a worker thread so it stops blocking the event loop
