The skill covers three areas: NAP (Name, Address, Phone), Google Business Profile setup, and citation building. It starts by asking about the business type — storefront or service-area — how many locations you run, and which listings already exist. From there it produces a GBP checklist, a priority list of directories, and audit findings when you need them.
The NAP rule is blunt: the spelling has to match everywhere. "Street" versus "St.", or a stray "LLC", and Google may treat the records as separate entities. So you fix existing inconsistencies first and add new citations after. For the audit itself the skill points to BrightLocal, Whitespark and Moz Local.
On the profile, the address is physical with no P.O. boxes, the description runs up to 750 characters with primary keywords in the first 100, and the primary category matches the business type. No storefront? Hide the address and define service areas instead. Citations go in order: Google Business Profile, Apple Maps, then Yelp, Bing Places and Facebook. Duplicates and stale data hurt rankings, so clean those up before widening the list. For pages targeting individual locations, the skill hands off to programmatic-seo.
What it helps with
- bring NAP into one exact format across directories
- fill out a Google Business Profile without mistakes
- decide which directories to submit to first
- find duplicate and outdated listings
- set service areas for a business without a storefront
Example prompts for the agent
- Check our site NAP against the Google Business Profile and list the mismatches
- Build a Google Business Profile optimization checklist for a single-location salon
- What order should I add citations in for a service-area business?

Critical for local rankings. | Rule | Guideline | |------|-----------| | **Exact match** | "Street" vs "St." or "LLC" inconsistency = Google may treat as different entities | | **Fix first** | Audit and fix inconsistencies before adding new citations | | **Tools** | BrightLocal, Whitespark, Moz Local for audit | ## Google Business Profile | Element | Guideline | |---------|-----------| | **Address** | Physical address; no P.O. boxes | | **Description** | 750 chars; primary keywords in first 100 | | **Hours** | Accurate; seasonal availability | | **Category** | Primary category matches business type | | **Service-area** | Hide address if no storefront; define service areas | ## Citation Building **Targeted precision** over submitting to every directory. **Priority order**: 1.
