jira-syntax — Claude Code skill: what it does, how to install
This skill turns Markdown into Jira wiki markup, applies issue templates, and checks syntax before posting. Use it for Jira descriptions and comments.
npx skills add netresearch/jira-skill --skill jira-syntax -a claude-codeWhat jira-syntax does
jira-syntax prepares text for Jira’s wiki markup instead of Markdown. It covers headings, lists, links, tables, code blocks, issue links, and user mentions. The package also includes templates for bug reports and feature requests, with sections suited to each document type.
Before content is posted, run scripts/validate-jira-syntax.sh on the file. Validation must remain a separate step rather than being chained to the posting command. That matters because the script checks the markup; it does not submit the Jira content.
Use jira-communication for API actions. This skill is for authoring, formatting, templates, and syntax checks.
What it helps with
- convert Markdown into Jira wiki markup
- draft a bug report from the provided template
- structure a feature request with the right sections
- check links, tables, and lists before posting
- fix invalid Jira markup
