What grpc-microservices does

This skill guides coding assistants through structuring microservice architectures with gRPC and Protocol Buffers schemas. It enforces clean .proto conventions, such as zero-value defaults for enums and union definitions via oneof.

It details all four RPC communication patterns: unary calls, server streams, client streams, and two-way streaming. You also get structural patterns for cursor-based pagination and batch lookups. Never reassign deleted field numbers in .proto files. Doing so breaks backwards compatibility across running services.

What it helps with

  • design a .proto service contract for microservices
  • set up bidirectional streaming for live data sync
  • implement token-based pagination in protobuf schemas
  • configure batch data fetching by identifier lists

Example prompts for the agent

  • Write a .proto schema for an account service with token pagination and CRUD methods
  • Set up a bidirectional streaming RPC definition for a real-time messaging service
  • Add a search request payload using oneof for mutually exclusive filters

Questions about grpc-microservices

How do I install grpc-microservices in Claude Code?

Run npx skills add manutej/luxor-claude-marketplace --skill grpc-microservices -a claude-code in your terminal.

What does grpc-microservices do?

It instructs your coding assistant on constructing gRPC APIs, defining protobuf messages, and selecting appropriate streaming communication modes.

Why are protobuf field tags unchangeable once assigned?

Field numbers govern binary serialization. Reallocating an old index corrupts message parsing for clients running earlier contract versions.
