graphic-design — Claude Code skill: design rules for your agent
A skill that hands your coding agent a graphic design reference: color, typography, grids, file formats. Useful when it lays out UI or preps artwork for print.
npx skills add travisjneuman/.claude --skill graphic-design -a claude-codeWhat graphic-design does
The skill loads a design reference into the agent: the seven principles of composition, RGB, CMYK, HSL and Hex color models, harmony schemes like complementary and triadic, and color psychology. Typography comes next, with font categories, a size scale from display down to micro, and rules such as keeping to two or three typefaces per project.
Layout gets its own sections: a 12-column grid, an 8pt spacing system, the rule of thirds, and techniques for visual hierarchy. File formats are covered too, raster JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF alongside vector SVG, EPS and PDF, with export guidance. Accessibility shows up as WCAG AA and AAA contrast requirements for text and UI components.
One caveat: the file cuts off inside the tools table, so the full software list isn't there. The skill draws nothing itself. It gives the agent criteria to judge and fix a layout against. If you want an image generator, look elsewhere.
What it helps with
- pick a palette that fits a brand
- check text contrast against WCAG
- pair a heading font with a body font
- lay a page out on a 12-column grid
- decide which format to export for web or print
Example prompts for the agent
- Pick a palette for a fintech landing page and check contrast against WCAG AA
- Build a type scale for the docs: headings, body, captions
- Critique my product card layout against the design principles

Questions about graphic-design
How do I install graphic-design in Claude?
Run npx skills add travisjneuman/.claude --skill graphic-design -a claude-code. The skill file then sits at ~/.claude/skills/graphic-design/SKILL.md.
What does graphic-design do?
It gives the agent a graphic design reference covering composition principles, color theory, typography, grids and file formats. The agent leans on it when building or reviewing a layout.
Does the skill draw graphics on its own?
No. It is a text reference of rules and tables. It shapes the agent's decisions rather than producing images.
