godot-development — Claude Code skill for Godot Engine work
A skill that lets your coding agent build Godot scenes, add nodes and write GDScript instead of walking you through the editor by hand.
npx skills add Zate/cc-godot --skill godot-development -a claude-code
npx skills add Zate/cc-godot --skill godot-dev -a claude-codeWhat godot-development does
The skill loads the agent with Godot knowledge: the scene tree, 2D and 3D node types, _ready and _physics_process, and a sensible layout for scenes, scripts and assets. Node references and input handling come with GDScript snippets.
It also wires in the Godot MCP tools. The agent can open the editor, run the project, pull console output and errors, create a .tscn, attach nodes, load a texture into a Sprite2D, and save the scene. Separate calls cover the engine version and UID references in Godot 4.4+.
Because the skill allows mcp__godot__*, a connected Godot MCP server is the prerequisite. Without it you get file reads and edits only — no scene creation, no project runs. Install is a single npx skills command, and the file lands in the skills folder of whichever platform you pick.
What it helps with
- build a character scene with a sprite and collision shape
- find out why a node ignores input
- lay out project folders for scenes, scripts and assets
- run the game and read the errors it prints
- write movement in
_physics_processwithout digging through docs
Example prompts for the agent
- Create a player scene with
CharacterBody2Das root, plusSprite2DandCollisionShape2Dchildren - Run the project and show me the console output
- Add a
Timernode set to two seconds insidemain.tscn

Questions about godot-development
How do I install godot-development in Claude Code?
Run npx skills add Zate/cc-godot --skill godot-development -a claude-code. The skill file ends up at ~/.claude/skills/godot-dev/SKILL.md.
What does godot-development do?
It gives the agent Godot Engine knowledge and access to the engine's MCP tools: creating scenes, adding nodes, running the project and reading debug output.
Do I need the Godot MCP server?
Yes. The skill allows mcp__godot__* calls, so without a connected server the agent cannot open the editor, run the project or create a scene.
