git-shortcuts — Claude Code skill: git steps from one shorthand
This skill reads a short ---prefixed token such as --cp or --cppr and runs the matching git and GitHub steps. Handy when typing commit, push and PR separately gets old.
npx skills add timschoch/skilly --skill git-shortcuts -a claude-codeWhat git-shortcuts does
Each letter maps to one action, and they run left to right. c commits through the /commit skill, p runs git push origin <current-branch>, pr opens a pull request with gh pr create, and m shepherds that PR to a merge using the babysit-pr protocol. A failed step stops the chain; nothing after it runs.
The skill never fires on its own. It only reacts to an explicit -- token in your message: --c, --p, --cp, --pr, --prm, --cppr, --cpprm, --ff, --release, --pub, --close. A bare c or pr inside a normal sentence leaves it alone.
The base branch is read from the repo rather than hardcoded, and an epic/* base is used only after it is confirmed on origin; otherwise the default branch wins. Repos that still carry a staging branch follow the older branching model, and the skill points you at LEGACY-STAGING.md instead. The m step needs babysit-pr present — add it first with npx -y github:timschoch/skilly add babysit-pr.
What it helps with
- commit, push and open a PR from a single short token
- stage only the files touched in the current session
- carry a pull request through CI to a merge
- pick the right base branch for a ticket cut from an epic
- spot a repo still running the legacy branching model
Example prompts for the agent
--cp— commit this session's changes and push the branch--cppr— commit, push, then open the pull request--prm— open the PR and take it through to a merge
