github-workflow-automation · davila7 — Claude Code skill: automate GitHub
A skill with ready-made patterns for AI-driven PR reviews, issue triage and CI/CD on GitHub. Useful when you are wiring automation into a repository.
npx claude-code-templates@latest --skill development/github-workflow-automationWhat github-workflow-automation does
The skill covers hooking a model into GitHub chores: reviewing pull requests, sorting incoming issues, and handling Git operations like rebase and cherry-pick. What you get are YAML files for .github/workflows that fire on pull_request and issues events.
A review runs like this: the workflow collects the changed file list and the diff, sends both to the model, then posts the answer as a PR comment. That step needs ANTHROPIC_API_KEY in repository secrets and the @anthropic-ai/sdk package. No key, no review.
For issues, the skill ships a prompt that asks the model to return JSON with the report type, severity, area and whether reproduction steps are present. The workflow turns that into labels and, when steps are missing, leaves a comment asking for them. A separate example handles old issues on a schedule.
What it helps with
- set up automatic pull request reviews through GitHub Actions
- label new issues by type and severity
- ask reporters for reproduction steps when they are missing
- call a model from a CI/CD step
- describe Git operations like rebase and cherry-pick for the agent
Example prompts for the agent
- Set up automatic PR review in this repo using the workflow from the skill
- Create an issue triage workflow that applies bug and enhancement labels
- Add a CI step that sends the diff to the model and comments on the pull request
