fleet-manager — Claude Code skill: keep tabs on your tmux agent fleet
A skill that reads every claude-code pane in tmux, labels what each agent is doing, and sends replies or new instructions back into the pane.
npx skills add harperreed/dotfiles --skill fleet-manager -a claude-codeWhat fleet-manager does
The skill runs a loop. It calls list_panes with no filters, keeps the claude-code panes, and pulls recent context from each one with get_pane_conversation at count 10. Every pane then gets a label: Working, Needs input, Stuck, Idle or Done. The judgement comes from reading the conversation, not the status line.
You get back a compact table: pane number, project name, status, and a five-word note on what the agent is up to. A closing line tells you how many panes are waiting on a human and how many look stuck. From there you pick the move — answer a question with send_to_pane, redirect a stuck agent, hand work to an idle one, or call stop_pane on a finished one.
Say “handle it” or “you decide” and the skill acts on its own. It answers only when the context makes the answer clear, offers stuck agents a different route, and never halts a working agent. The control daemon has to be running and the MCP server registered, otherwise the tools aren't there and the skill points you at control daemon start --background and ~/.claude/settings.json.
What it helps with
- spot which tmux agents are waiting on a reply
- catch an agent looping on the same error
- hand a fresh task to an idle pane
- stop an agent that already finished
- get one table summarising the whole fleet
Example prompts for the agent
- Check on my agents
- What needs attention?
- Send to the tracker pane: switch to local tests instead
