feed-catchup — Claude Code skill: what it does, how to install
Cleans up your unread Readwise Reader RSS feed, highlights the five best articles, and lets you triage the rest in batches.
npx skills add readwiseio/readwise-skills --skill feed-catchup -a claude-codeWhat feed-catchup does
The skill connects to Readwise Reader through MCP tools or the local readwise command-line utility. It pulls incoming feed documents and isolates unseen items where the opening timestamp is empty. When a local reader_persona.md document exists, the agent tailors article commentary directly to your interests.
On launch, you receive a digest table showing five top-priority picks with read times and short rationale. From there, you can request full summaries, open direct Reader links, or move items into later, inbox, or archive. You can also trigger an interactive browsing loop that surfaces unseen entries 20 at a time.
Execution stops immediately if neither the Readwise MCP server nor the readwise CLI is available in your environment.
What it helps with
- filter out unseen RSS articles in Readwise Reader
- select five priority stories based on reading preferences
- mark unread feed batches as seen in one call
- send specific articles to Later, Archive, or Shortlist
Example prompts for the agent
- Catch up on my Readwise RSS feed
- Browse the next batch of unseen feed items
- Move items 2 and 5 to Later and mark the rest seen

Questions about feed-catchup
How do I install feed-catchup in Claude Code?
Run npx skills add readwiseio/readwise-skills --skill feed-catchup -a claude-code in your terminal. This puts the skill file into ~/.claude/skills/feed-catchup/SKILL.md.
What does the feed-catchup skill do?
It pulls unseen items from your Readwise Reader RSS queue, curates five priority picks, and lets you triage remaining entries in batches of 20.
Is the reader_persona.md file required?
No, the persona file is optional. If it is missing, the skill selects stories based on general signal density and suggests running build-persona first.
