devops-automation — Claude Code skill: CI/CD, alerts, incidents

A skill that lays out DevOps workflows: CI/CD pipelines, alert routing, incident response and server provisioning. Useful when you need deploy and on-call steps written down.

What devops-automation does

The skill covers four areas. In CI/CD it defines triggers on push, pull request and workflow completion: Slack notifications, reviewer assignment from CODEOWNERS, CI checks. The deployment pipeline splits into build, staging and production, where production waits for manual approval and rollback fires on a failed deploy or by hand.

Monitoring gets alert routing from Prometheus, Datadog, CloudWatch and New Relic across four severity levels, each with its own response time and channels such as PagerDuty or SMS. Rules boost severity for the payments service and send auth alerts to security_oncall. Message templates cover high CPU, low memory, a full disk, an error spike and rising latency.

Incidents run from detection to review: automatic severity triage, a channel named #inc-{timestamp}, paging on-call and stakeholders, updates every 30 minutes, then a postmortem with a timeline and action items. The skill expects an MCP server devops-mcp with the tools github_api, jenkins_trigger, aws_cli and kubernetes_api — without it, any step that touches GitHub, Jenkins, AWS or Kubernetes has nothing to run. The recommended model is claude-sonnet-4.

What it helps with

  • build a deploy pipeline with staging and production stages
  • route alerts by severity to the right on-call team
  • write incident response from detection through postmortem
  • set up Slack notifications for pushes and pull requests
  • draft a postmortem template with timeline and action items

Example prompts for the agent

  • Lay out a deploy pipeline: build, staging, production with manual approval and rollback
  • Route Prometheus alerts across critical, high, medium and low severity levels
  • Build the incident workflow: channel creation, on-call paging, updates every 30 minutes

How to install devops-automation
