delegate · prassanna-ravishankar — Claude Code skill for AI agent delegation
The delegate skill assigns a self-contained task to a peer through repowire and follows its progress. Use it to hand off refactoring or another well-defined piece of work.
npx skills add prassanna-ravishankar/repowire --skill delegate -a claude-codeWhat delegate does
The delegate skill routes a task to an agent running on a selected backend through repowire. It looks for an online peer first, preferably one that is idle. Creating a new peer requires the user's approval when no suitable existing agent is available.
The skill determines the target backend from an explicit user choice or the configured default. If neither provides an answer, it asks the user to choose. The receiving agent gets a complete task brief and acceptance criteria because it cannot access the original conversation context. Progress is tracked through the MCP ask and ack exchange, linked by a correlation_id; follow-up requests can refer back to that identifier. The CLI command repowire peer ask serves as a synchronous test utility rather than the tracked handoff mechanism, while notify_peer sends a message without waiting for an acknowledgement.
A working repowire setup and an available peer, or approval to create one, are needed for delegation. To close a task from the CLI, use repowire peer ack <cid>. A notification alone does not confirm completion, so tracked work should follow the acknowledgement flow.
What it helps with
- Hand off a module refactor to a separate AI agent
- Route a task to a chosen backend
- Find an available repowire peer for a task
- Track delegated work through
askandack - Continue a task using its
correlation_id
Example prompts for the agent
- Delegate the module refactor to a Codex peer and track it until the result is acknowledged.
- Assign the bug fix to an agent on the chosen backend and include the acceptance criteria.
- Continue the task linked to
correlation_idand check which acceptance criteria remain unmet.

Questions about delegate
How do I install delegate in Claude Code?
Run npx skills add prassanna-ravishankar/repowire --skill delegate -a claude-code. The skill file is located at ~/.claude/skills/delegate/SKILL.md.
What does the delegate skill do?
It assigns a self-contained task to another AI agent through repowire and tracks progress using the ask and ack acknowledgement flow. The receiving peer gets a task brief with acceptance criteria.
What happens when no suitable peer is available?
The skill asks for approval before creating a new peer. If the backend is neither selected by the user nor configured as the default, it asks which backend should receive the task.
