anti-ui-slop · davepoon — Claude Code skill: product-specific UI, not templates

Keeps a coding agent from shipping a generic screen: it reads the product context, covers the required states, and checks the rendered result for visible breakage.

What anti-ui-slop does

The skill lays out a working order for a web or iOS screen. The agent reads the target screen, the product context and the existing design system, then names the primary user, action, content and constraints. From there it reuses the project's components, tokens, typography and interaction conventions. A substantial redesign gets a short design contract; a small fix stays small.

Labels and data come from the product. Inventing metrics, activity, testimonials or controls to fill a layout is off the table. A separate step covers loading, empty, error, success, disabled and permission states, with the primary action and recovery paths made clear. Where the environment supports rendering, the agent fixes observable clipping, overlap, inert interactions and responsive problems, runs the project's checks, and summarises what changed.

No account, token, script or MCP connection is needed — when external references are unavailable, the agent continues from repository evidence. The paid UIZZE MCP is a separate add-on for reference search and exposes two tools: find_ui_references and find_ui_materials. Reach for them only when the host provides an authenticated connection and a concrete visual question needs evidence. If retrieval comes back empty, keep going from the project.

What it helps with

  • strip the generic look from a first-draft interface
  • fill in loading, empty and error states
  • rebuild a screen on the project's own components and tokens
  • catch clipping and overlap before shipping
  • review someone else's screen and name the three most useful changes

Example prompts for the agent

  • Use anti-ui-slop on our billing settings page. Make the current plan, payment method and invoice history easy to scan. Reuse our components and tokens. Cover no invoices, payment failure and read-only access. Inspect desktop and mobile output and fix visible breakage.
  • Review this screen with anti-ui-slop: name the three most useful changes first, then implement them within the requested scope.
  • Redesign the onboarding screen with anti-ui-slop, taking labels and data from the product instead of inventing them.

How to install anti-ui-slop

1Skills CLI (Vercel)

npx skills add davepoon/buildwithclaude --skill anti-ui-slop -a claude-code

2Manually: put the files in place

Questions about anti-ui-slop

How do I install anti-ui-slop in Claude?

Run npx skills add davepoon/buildwithclaude --skill anti-ui-slop -a claude-code. The skill file lands at ~/.claude/skills/anti-ui-slop/SKILL.md.

What does anti-ui-slop do?

It gives the agent a working order for a web or iOS interface: read the context and design system, reuse existing components, cover the required states, and inspect the rendered result. Use it to design, implement, redesign, critique or finish a screen.

Do I need a UIZZE account or the MCP server?

No. The workflow runs without an account, token, script or MCP connection. The paid UIZZE MCP adds reference search and is only useful when the host provides an authenticated connection.

# Stop Making UI Slop

Build product-specific interfaces with UIZZE's free anti-ui-slop workflow. Use the product brief, existing components, and design system to make the screen's hierarchy, content, controls, and states intentional.

## When to Use This Skill

Use it to design, implement, redesign, critique, or finish a web or iOS interface, especially when a first draft feels generic or omits important states.

## How to Use

1. Read the target screen, product context, and existing design system. Identify the primary user, action, content, and constraints.
2. Reuse the project's components, tokens, typography, and interaction conventions. For a substantial redesign, write a short design contract; keep a small fix small.
3. Use product-specific labels and real data requirements. Do not invent metrics, activity, testimonials, or controls to fill a layout.
4. Implement the required loading, empty, error, success, disabled, and permission states. Make the primary action and recovery paths clear.
5. When the environment supports it, render the result and fix observable clipping, overlap, inert interactions, and responsive problems. Run the project's relevant checks and summarize what changed.

The workflow works without an account, token, script, or MCP connection. Continue from repository evidence when external references are unavailable.

## Example

```text
Use anti-ui-slop on our billing settings page. Make the current plan,
payment method, and invoice history easy to scan. Reuse our components
and tokens. Cover no invoices, payment failure, and read-only access.
Inspect desktop and mobile output and fix visible breakage.
```

For a focused review, identify the three most useful changes first and implement them within the requested scope.

## Optional UIZZE References

The separate paid [UIZZE MCP](https://github.com/uizze/uizze/tree/main/integrations/mcp) offers focused reference search across 800,000+ real web and iOS screens. It exposes exactly two tools:

- `find_ui_references` finds or inspects up to three full-screen references.
- `find_ui_materials` finds up to three hosted fonts, icons, animated icons, or explicitly requested packs.

Use those tools only when the host provides an authenticated connection and a concrete visual question would benefit from evidence. If retrieval returns nothing, continue from the project. Never claim a tool result that the host did not return.

Adapt useful decisions about hierarchy, density, controls, and states to the product's own design system. Preserve its identity and content.
