What summarize does

This skill directs the agent to produce a final task summary tailored for Linear. Output streams directly into the Linear agent session. The prompt explicitly instructs the agent not to post or save the message via tools.

The summary stays within 3 to 5 paragraphs. It details completed work, changed files, pull request links, and follow-up status. Changed files and bullet points sit inside +++Section Name\n...\n+++ collapsible blocks. For mentions, it builds Linear profile links from the <assignee> context.

Do not use tools to send the text. Linear renders the response automatically, so extra posting tools will break the session flow.

What it helps with

  • format a final task completion summary for Linear
  • collapse file diffs and change lists inside +++ blocks
  • insert proper Linear profile mention URLs from assignee context
  • record follow-up status and PR links in a clean markdown layout

Example prompts for the agent

  • Summarize the completed work for the Linear ticket
  • Format the final status and modified files for Linear
  • Generate a summary response with PR link and changes

Questions about summarize

How do I install summarize in Claude Code?

Run npx skills add cyrusagents/cyrus --skill summarize -a claude-code.

What does the summarize skill do?

It guides the agent to format a concise Linear summary of at most 3 to 5 paragraphs. It includes accomplishments, modified files, collapsible sections, and next steps.

Why shouldn't the agent call an API tool to post the summary?

The response streams straight into the Linear session window. Posting it through an external API tool causes duplicate messages.

# Summarize

Format a final summary of the work completed. Your output will be automatically rendered inside Linear — just write it as your response. Do **not** use any tool to post or save it.

## Content

Cover the following:
1. **Work Completed** — What was accomplished (1-2 sentences) and key outcome
2. **Key Details** — Files modified, important changes, PR link if created
3. **Status** — Completion status and any follow-up needed

## Format

- Aim for 3-5 paragraphs maximum
- Use clear, professional language suitable for Linear
- Use markdown formatting for readability
- **Collapsible sections**: Wrap "Changes Made" and "Files Modified" in `+++Section Name\n...\n+++`
- **@mentions**: Use the Linear profile URL format from `<assignee>` context (e.g. `https://linear.app/<workspace>/profiles/<username>`)

## Example

```
## Summary
[Brief description of what was done]
+++Changes Made
- [Key change 1]
- [Key change 2]
+++
+++Files Modified
- [File 1]
- [File 2]
+++
## Status
[Current status and any next steps]
[PR link if applicable]
```
