groove-utilities-task-analyse — Claude Code skill: task summary
Pulls tasks from your project backend and groups them by status, so you have something to write into daily memory.
npx skills add andreadellacorte/groove --skill groove-utilities-task-analyse -a claude-codeWhat groove-utilities-task-analyse does
The skill reads tasks.backend and tasks.analyse_limit from .groove/index.md, then queries the configured backend and sorts tasks into in-progress, todo/ready, blocked, completed and scrapped. For beans it runs skills/groove-utilities-task-list/scripts/list-tasks-by-priority.sh [LIMIT] for active work, fetches completed and scrapped items through beans list --json, and merges everything into one report.
With linear it pulls assigned issues via the CLI or MCP; with github it calls gh issue list --state all --assignee @me and groups by label and state. Milestones and epics come with progress like "X of Y tasks done". For completed tasks the skill includes the "Summary of Changes" section from the body when it exists. A task with no resolution still shows up, flagged as missing one.
Output is markdown with a header per status group and a bullet per task. That is enough to write daily memory bullets without opening the tasks yourself. If the config says tasks.backend: none, the skill does nothing and tells you so. One thing to watch: the default limit is 30 active tasks, so on a large backlog the report will not cover everything.
What it helps with
- merge tasks from a backend into one status summary
- show milestone and epic progress as X of Y
- pull resolution text from completed tasks, not just titles
- prepare daily memory bullets without rereading tasks
- spot a completed task that has no resolution
Example prompts for the agent
- analyse the tasks and show a summary by status
- build a task report for daily memory
- show progress across milestones and epics

Milestones and epics are summarised. Completed tasks include enough resolution detail for memory population bullets. Output is suitable for daily end and daily memory. ## Acceptance Criteria - Tasks grouped by status: in-progress, todo/ready, blocked, completed, scrapped - Milestones/epics show progress (X of Y tasks done) - Completed tasks include resolution summary (not just title) - Output contains enough detail to write meaningful daily memory bullets without re-reading tasks ## Constraints - Read `tasks.backend` and `tasks.analyse_limit` (default 30) from `.groove/index.md` - If `tasks.backend: none`, no-op with friendly message - Backend mappings: - `beans`: (1) run `skills/groove-utilities-task-list/scripts/list-tasks-by-priority.sh [LIMIT]` for active tasks (LIMIT from `tasks.analyse_limit` or 30); (2) run `beans list --json --status completed` and `beans list --json --status scrapped` for completed/scrapped; merge, group by status, then summarise (milestones/epics and resolution detail as per acceptance criteria) - `linear`: fetch all assigned issues via linear CLI or MCP, group by state - `github`: `gh issue list --state all --assignee @me`, group by label/state - For completed tasks: include the body's "Summary of Changes" section if present - If a completed task has no resolution, note that it is missing — do not omit the task - Output format should be scannable markdown (headers per status group, bullet per task)
