create-command — Claude Code skill: what it does, how to install
Interactive helper for drafting custom slash commands. Configures frontmatter, argument handling, and pre-run bash context.
npx skills add NeoLabHQ/context-engineering-kit --skill create-command -a claude-codeWhat create-command does
The skill guides you through building structured slash commands based on Scopecraft conventions. It sorts commands into categories like planning, implementation, analysis, or workflows, and sets up files in project or user scopes.
Generated command files include mandatory YAML frontmatter with description, optional argument-hint, and tool permissions via allowed-tools. It handles inputs via $ARGUMENTS or positional tokens like $1 and $2, plus pre-execution bash hooks prefixed with !.
Project-level commands take precedence whenever a user-level command shares the same name. To keep patterns consistent, the assistant inspects existing commands in .claude/commands/ or ~/.claude/commands/ before creating a new one.
What it helps with
- scaffold slash command files with valid YAML frontmatter
- configure parameter parsing using
$ARGUMENTSand positional tokens - set up bash pre-execution commands with
allowed-tools - organize commands across project and user directories
Example prompts for the agent
- Create a slash command for code review that accepts a directory path
- Help me write a git commit command that executes git status first
- Scaffold an implementation command with mode arguments
