What canghe-comic does

The skill reads a source text and builds a comic in stages: content analysis, a storyboard split into panels, character definitions, generation prompts, then the pages themselves. A script at scripts/merge-to-pdf.ts merges everything into a PDF. Output lands in comic/{topic-slug}/, with analysis.md, storyboard.md and a characters/ folder sitting next to the images.

Looks are controlled by flags. --art picks the rendering technique: ligne-claire, manga, realistic, ink-brush or chalk. --tone sets the mood, --layout the panel arrangement, --aspect the page ratio. Three presets bundle special rules: --style ohmsha for teaching material, --style wuxia and --style shoujo. Leave the flags out and the skill picks a style from the content signals.

First run is blocked until you complete the setup and save EXTEND.md — step 1.1 will not let you past it. That happens once; afterwards your preferences load automatically. There is a second ordering rule worth knowing: pages are generated against a character reference, so characters/characters.png has to exist first and pages are then produced with --ref. Skip that order and faces drift between panels.

You can also stop partway. --storyboard-only ends at the storyboard, --prompts-only adds the prompts, --images-only renders from an existing prompts directory, and --regenerate N redraws selected pages.

What it helps with

  • turn an article or study note into a teaching comic
  • break material down into panels and scenes
  • produce character definitions and a reference sheet
  • write generation prompts for each page
  • merge finished pages into a single PDF

Example prompts for the agent

  • /canghe-comic posts/turing-story/source.md
  • /canghe-comic article.md --art manga --tone warm
  • /canghe-comic --prompts-only
