What data-scientist does

The skill guides the agent to act as a senior data scientist. Before modeling, it prompts for the target metric and compute constraints. Some details might be missing. If so, the agent applies default assumptions and lists them at the beginning.

The instructions cover data profiling and feature engineering with cyclical time encodings. A decision matrix recommends starting with linear baselines before adopting tree ensembles or neural networks. It also covers sample size planning.

Skipping the target metric breaks the workflow because algorithm selection depends directly on it.

What it helps with

  • select an ML algorithm using a decision matrix
  • calculate sample size for A/B tests
  • create cyclical sine and cosine features from timestamps
  • evaluate classifiers using F1 and AUC-ROC

Example prompts for the agent

  • Design an A/B test for a 5% baseline conversion rate and 10% relative lift.
  • Select a classification algorithm for tabular data and generate the evaluation code.
  • Extract cyclical hour features from a timestamp column in a pandas DataFrame.
