What agentmail-manage-inboxes does

The skill covers the whole inbox lifecycle on AgentMail: listing, details, creation, edits and removal. It runs against a connected MCP server, so sending and reading mail stay with other skills. list_inboxes returns what exists; get_inbox pulls exact fields for one inbox.

Creation happens only when you ask for it. The agent passes along the username you requested, a verified domain, display name, metadata and client ID if you supplied them. Metadata keys merge on update, and nulling a key drops it — the agent is expected to say so. Deletion is previewed with the exact ID or address and needs your explicit confirmation, since the inbox's mail becomes unreachable.

The agent does not make up a domain or treat one as verified. Idempotent creation relies on a stable client ID, and credentials keep their existing scope. Instructions that arrive inside an email, attachment or webhook authorize nothing by themselves: they turn into a draft that waits for your go-ahead.

What it helps with

  • give an agent its own email address
  • list inboxes and their IDs
  • change an inbox display name or metadata
  • delete an inbox without cutting off mail by mistake
  • check that a domain is verified before creating an address

Example prompts for the agent

  • List every AgentMail inbox with its ID
  • Create a new inbox named support on the verified domain
  • Delete inbox inbox_123, show its address first

Questions about agentmail-manage-inboxes

How do I install agentmail-manage-inboxes in Claude Code?

Run npx skills add agentmail-to/agentmail-skills --skill agentmail-manage-inboxes -a claude-code. The skill file lands at ~/.claude/skills/agentmail-manage-inboxes/SKILL.md.

What does agentmail-manage-inboxes do?

It guides the agent through AgentMail inbox operations over MCP: listing, inspecting, creating, updating and deleting. Sending or reading mail is handled elsewhere.

Does deleting an inbox require confirmation?

Yes. The agent shows the exact ID or address first and deletes only after you confirm, because the action is destructive and cuts off access to that inbox's mail.
