agentmail-toolkit — Claude Code skill: what it does, how to install
Adds AgentMail tools to agent frameworks such as Vercel AI SDK and LangChain. Useful when building TypeScript or Python agents that need email capabilities.
npx skills add agentmail-to/agentmail-skills --skill agentmail-toolkit -a claude-codeWhat agentmail-toolkit does
This skill provides instructions for wiring AgentMail tools into agent libraries. It covers integrations with Vercel AI SDK, LangChain, OpenAI Agents SDK, and LiveKit Agents. Direct mailbox tasks belong elsewhere.
Instead of hardcoding function names, it queries the catalog at runtime with getTools() or get_tools(). Tool selections differ between Python and TypeScript packages and ship on distinct schedules. The MCP server adapter is available solely in TypeScript.
You need an AGENTMAIL_API_KEY and minimum versions of TypeScript 0.5.0 or Python 0.3.0. The constructor expects an instantiated SDK client rather than an inline API key object. Raw configuration objects fail immediately. Tool failures throw exceptions in supported frameworks rather than returning error strings.
What it helps with
- connect AgentMail tools to Vercel AI SDK or LangChain
- give Python OpenAI Agents SDK access to email actions
- expose email tool definitions on a custom TypeScript MCP server
- equip LiveKit Agents with inbound message handling
Example prompts for the agent
- Wire AgentMail tools into my TypeScript LangChain agent
- Configure the AgentMail toolkit for OpenAI Agents SDK in Python
- Set up AgentMail tools on my custom MCP server

Questions about agentmail-toolkit
How to install agentmail-toolkit in Claude Code?
Run npx skills add agentmail-to/agentmail-skills --skill agentmail-toolkit -a claude-code. Alternatively, place the skill file directly at ~/.claude/skills/agentmail-toolkit/SKILL.md.
What frameworks does agentmail-toolkit support?
It supports Vercel AI SDK, LangChain, and MCP adapters in TypeScript. In Python, it connects with LangChain, OpenAI Agents SDK, and LiveKit Agents.
Can I configure the toolkit with an API key directly in its constructor?
No, the constructor requires a pre-built AgentMail client instance. Passing an object with an API key directly will result in an initialization error.
