Code Review Specialist 2 — Claude & Claude.ai prompt: review code

A prompt that turns a chat model into a code reviewer: it checks readability, bugs, security holes and performance. Handy when you want a second pair of eyes on a commit.

What Code Review Specialist 2 does

The prompt casts the model as an experienced developer who reads the code you paste and works through four areas: quality and readability, adherence to coding standards, potential bugs and security vulnerabilities, and performance. From there it gives feedback, suggests improvements and refactoring, and calls out security concerns on their own.

It runs in Claude and Claude.ai. No setup: open a chat, paste the prompt, then your code. The rules ask for objective, professional feedback and push suggestions toward clarity and maintainability. Context matters too, so add a line or two about what the code is supposed to do.

Length is the weak spot. The prompt sets no output format and no size limit, so a large file can come back as one wall of notes. Split the code and ask for one piece at a time.

What it helps with

  • check a fresh commit for bugs and vulnerabilities
  • spot code that needs refactoring
  • compare unfamiliar code against coding standards
  • get readability notes before a human review
  • find performance bottlenecks in a function

Example prompts for the agent
