novel-studio — Claude Code plugin: a web novel pipeline
A Claude plugin that runs a web novel from pitch to polish with 18 agents and 10 skills. Built for long serials, not single chapters.
/plugin marketplace add anthropics/claude-plugins-community
/plugin install novel-studio@claude-communityWhat novel-studio does
novel-studio turns web novel production into one pipeline: propose, design, create, polish, rewrite. It ships 18 specialist agents and 10 skills, one set per stage. You drive it with slash commands: /propose returns three pitches to choose from, /design-big builds the world, characters and plot structure, /design-small expands a detailed 25-episode plan, /create writes episodes in sequence, and /polish runs a 16-axis pass with six agents in parallel.
Everything hangs off novel-config.md. /design-big generates it, then you review and edit it: target platform, genre, paths to the design documents, the episode range table, and guard_rails — hard rules such as limits on a protagonist's ability. Those rules are enforced at every creation and polish step. The VOICE, TITLE and ALIVE axes keep characters from blurring into one voice, while LOGIC cross-checks numbers and timeline against the previous two episodes. Before each episode, continuity-bridge gathers the timeline, earlier foreshadowing and character state from the last two episodes and hands them to the creation agent.
Create, polish and rewrite commands take episode ranges: /create EP051 starts there, /create EP001-EP010 covers the first ten. After design changes, /rewrite works out the affected scope on its own. Run /design-small before /design-big and it has nothing to build on — the small design needs the documents the big one produces.
What it helps with
- turn one premise into three pitches and pick a direction
- build the world bible, character sheet and plot structure before chapter one
- lay out a detailed 25-episode plan ahead of writing
- write episodes in sequence without losing the last two
- rewrite only the episodes a design change touched
Example prompts for the agent
- Generate three proposals for a regression web novel
- Run the big design: world, characters and plot structure
- Write episodes EP001 through EP010

Questions about novel-studio
How do I install novel-studio in Claude Code?
Through the marketplace: run /plugin marketplace add anthropics/claude-plugins-community, then /plugin install novel-studio@claude-community. Restart the session afterwards.
What does novel-studio do?
It runs a web novel through propose, design, create, polish and rewrite. The 18 agents and 10 skills cover each stage, including checks on character voice, plot continuity and hard numbers across episodes.
Can I rewrite only some episodes after a design change?
Yes. /rewrite accepts a range, for example /rewrite project-name EP001-EP010. It calculates the affected scope itself, and the rewritten episodes need another /polish pass.

## The Three Walls of Long-Form AI Fiction
Writing a single 5,000-character episode with AI is easy. Scaling that to 300 episodes and 1.5 million characters is where things break.
| The Wall | Symptom | Awesome Novel Studio's Solution |
|----------|---------|------------------------|
| **Character depth collapse** | Distinct personalities, speech patterns, and motivations blur into sameness as episodes accumulate. | **Character sheet + voice table** — Define each character's tone, sentence endings, and non-verbal palette at design time. Automatically verified every episode via the `VOICE`, `TITLE`, and `ALIVE` polish axes. |
| **Story coherence breakdown** | Cause-and-effect chains and foreshadowing unravel across a sprawling world. | **Plot-hook guide + continuity-bridge** — Decompose the full narrative arc into 25-episode beat structures. Before each episode, `continuity-bridge` collects timeline, foreshadowing, and character state from the previous 2 episodes and feeds it to the creation agent. |
| **Number and setting inconsistency** | Currency values, historical dates, character ages — the hard facts that anchor the story start contradicting each other. | **guard_rails + LOGIC axis** — Define absolute rules in `novel-config.md`. The `LOGIC` polish axis cross-checks numbers and timeline against the previous 2 episodes. |

## Commands
| Command | Description | Notes |
|---------|-------------|-------|
| `/propose` | Generate 3 proposals from genre + Korean platform + concept | Starting point for a new novel |
| `/design-big` | Full novel design (bootstrap, characters, plot) | Includes auto-research |
| `/design-small` | 25-episode detailed design | Requires big design first |
| `/design` | Design router (big + small combined) | Use when scope is unclear |
| `/bootstrap` | Generate bootstrap document only | World-building and concept only |
| `/character` | Generate character sheet only | Character design only |
| `/plot-hook` | Generate plot-hook guide only | Narrative structure only |
| `/create` | Write episodes sequentially | Based on design documents |
| `/polish` (= `/lint`) | 16-axis polish (6 agents in parallel) | Auto-sequential progression |
| `/rewrite` (= `/revise`) | Rewrite episodes after design changes | Auto-calculates impact scope |
### Scope Targeting
All create/polish/rewrite commands accept episode range arguments:
```bash
/create EP051 # Start from EP051
/create EP001-EP010 # EP001 through EP010
/polish start # From EP001
/rewrite project-name EP001-EP010
```
## Workflow
```
/propose Generate 3 proposals, select 1
↓
/design-big Bootstrap + character sheet + plot-hook guide
↓ → novel-config.md auto-generated
/design-small 25-episode detailed design (optional, recommended)
↓
/create Episode creation (auto-sequential)
↓
/polish 16-axis polish (auto-sequential)
↓
[On design changes] /rewrite → /polish Rewrite then re-polish
```
