kaizen — Claude Code plugin: what it does, how to install
Audits your Claude Code environment, scores the setup on a 10-point rubric, and configures rules, hooks, and CLAUDE.md progressively.
/plugin marketplace add anthropics/claude-plugins-community
/plugin install kaizen@claude-communityWhat kaizen does
Instead of piling up unused skills, this plugin takes an incremental approach. The /kaizen:coach command inspects your project context, including its test framework and build tooling. It checks active skills, memory files, and configuration rules. Extra skills bloat context and burn tokens.
The coach evaluates your setup against a 10-point deterministic rubric. Points are awarded for core items like stop notifications, usage metrics, and clean references without broken links. Every audit score and trend is logged to .claude/coach-history.md. If you accept the suggestions, the tool creates rules and updates configurations automatically.
Running /kaizen:coach discover analyzes commit history and existing code to pull out implicit conventions into .claude/rules/. The tool directly writes updates to your configuration, so reviewing the proposed diffs before applying them is essential.
What it helps with
- cut context waste caused by unused skills
- extract implicit coding conventions from git history into
.claude/rules/ - audit hooks for token optimization and notification triggers
- clean up broken references and outdated entries in
MEMORY.md
