claude-code-setup — Claude Code plugin: what it does, how to install
Scans your codebase and suggests which hooks, skills, MCP servers and subagents to add. Useful when you don't know where to start with Claude setup.
/plugin install claude-code-setup@claude-plugins-official
/plugin marketplace add anthropics/claude-plugins-officialWhat claude-code-setup does
The plugin gives Claude a skill that walks the codebase and proposes one or two automations per category: MCP servers for outside integrations (context7 for docs, Playwright for frontend), skills that package expertise, hooks for auto-format and auto-lint, subagent reviewers for security and performance, plus slash commands like /test and /pr-review.
It is read-only. Nothing in your project gets rewritten, so you can run it on any working copy without worrying about surprise edits. You get a list of suggestions and decide yourself what to adopt.
Worth running on a project you have just inherited: it is faster than working out by hand where automation pays off.
What it helps with
- figure out which hooks are worth enabling
- pick an MCP server for frontend or docs work
- spot missing subagent reviewers
- get a slash command list that fits the stack
- decide which Claude automations to set up first
