setup-monorepo — Claude Code command: what it does, how to install
Configures a monorepo workspace structure with build orchestration. Handy when organizing multiple packages under one repository.
npx claude-code-templates@latest --command setup/setup-monorepoWhat setup-monorepo does
The command inspects your existing directory layout using Bash. It searches for package.json files, scans folder depth, and checks for configs like turbo.json, nx.json, lerna.json, or rush.json. To run these checks, the agent requires Read, Write, Edit, and Bash tool permissions.
Based on the passed flag, it sets up Nx, Turborepo, Lerna, Rush, or Yarn Workspaces. The setup configures workspace dependencies, task caching, and affected package detection for CI/CD pipelines.
Without terminal access, the agent cannot inspect the folder tree to determine project count.
What it helps with
- Organize independent packages into Nx or Turborepo
- Set up task caching and parallel builds
- Configure affected package detection for CI/CD
- Resolve shared workspace dependencies across apps
Example prompts for the agent
- /setup-monorepo --turborepo
- /setup-monorepo --nx
- /setup-monorepo --yarn-workspaces
