create-jtbd — Claude Code command: what it does, how to install
Generates a Jobs-to-be-Done analysis document for product features without technical implementation notes or time estimates.
npx claude-code-templates@latest --command project-management/create-jtbdWhat create-jtbd does
This slash command directs the agent to act as an experienced product manager. It inspects product context and builds a detailed JTBD breakdown. The resulting text covers core pain points, desired user outcomes, market opportunities, and statements following the "When [situation], I want [motivation], so I can [expected outcome]" pattern.
All output goes directly into product-development/current-feature/JTBD.md. The workflow expects @product-development/resources/product.md, @product-development/resources/JTBD-template.md, and @product-development/current-feature/feature.md. If the feature file is missing, the command terminates immediately and informs you.
What it helps with
- structure user requirements into standard JTBD statements
- document customer pain points without drifting into architecture
- review competing solutions through the lens of user jobs
- assess market opportunities for planned functionality
Example prompts for the agent
- /create-jtbd user-onboarding
- /create-jtbd --interactive
- /create-jtbd --template
