What gws-licensing does

gws-licensing runs Google Workspace Licensing actions through the gws CLI. Its licenseAssignments resource can assign or revoke a license, retrieve one for a user and product SKU, list assignments, and move a user to another SKU with patch or update.

The command checks the local CLI, authentication, and available licensing methods before an API call. Use gws schema licensing.<resource>.<method> to inspect required parameters, then build the request with --params and --json. Paginated results can use --max-results or --page-token.

The gws CLI must be installed and authenticated first. Licensing actions will fail until authentication is configured.

What it helps with

  • assign a Google Workspace license
  • revoke a user license
  • look up a license by product SKU
  • list users assigned to a product
  • move a user to another SKU

Example prompts for the agent

  • Run /gws-licensing and check authentication before assigning a Google Workspace license.
  • Use /gws-licensing to list users assigned to a product and SKU.
  • Ask /gws-licensing to inspect a method schema and prepare the request with --params and --json.
