New York's eight online sportsbooks generated $214.4 million in gross gaming revenue in July, drawing the total from a $1.88 billion handle at an 11.4% hold. The state Gaming Commission reported the figures.
June's handle of $2.25 billion was a monthly record, but the hold fell to 5.19% and revenue to $116.8 million. July reversed that: handle down 16.7%, revenue up 83.5%. Six of the eight operators grew revenue month on month, and the year-on-year gain was 37.8%. The hold is back where it sat from January through May, when it stayed above 8%.
The 2026 World Cup in North America pushed betting volume in a month when the NFL, NBA and NHL seasons were already over. Handle rose 34.3% year on year, against 36.6% in June, with $4.1 billion wagered across the two 'football' months. Favourable results on three-way lines, among them Spain's win over Argentina in the final, lifted the hold. Handle slipped below $2 billion for the first time in 11 months, still above the $1.40 billion of July 2025 and the $1.26 billion of July 2024. The state collected about $109.3 million in tax at a 51% rate, $50 million more than in June, and receipts for the year to date have passed $725 million against $1.32 billion for the whole of 2025.
DraftKings led on handle for a second July running at $661.5 million, its 11% hold producing $72.9 million in GGR. FanDuel took the most revenue, $86.1 million, double June's, on a $651.2 million handle and a 13.2% hold. Fanatics Sportsbook made $21.1 million, up 129% on June, from $221.6 million in bets. BetMGM posted $15.6 million at an 11.3% hold and Caesars $11.4 million at 9.3%.
