Google Merchant Center adds product Q&A attribute to Shopping feeds

New Q&A attribute

Google Merchant Center has added a product Q&A attribute for Shopping feeds. Retailers can use it to add up to 30 product-specific questions and answers, giving merchants greater control over the information shoppers see before they visit a retailer’s site.

What merchants can do with it

Merchants can structure Q&A around common purchase considerations, including dimensions, compatibility, delivery times, warranty and product care. The attribute is most relevant to electronics, clothing and footwear, sports goods, home appliances, cosmetics and perfumery.

Retailers can use support requests, website comments and product reviews to identify recurring questions. Answers should be concise, as long answers may be shortened in previews. Merchants can also separate Q&A into blocks for specifications, delivery and care, then update the content as product details change.

For feed managers, Q&A adds another element to keep aligned with product descriptions, attributes and images. The change makes product information in Google Shopping more dependent on accurate, current feed management.
