Macau casino gross gaming revenue (GGR) fell 3.8% year on year to MOP60.22 billion ($7.46 billion) in the third quarter of 2026. DICJ published the quarterly data. The result was down 1.3% from the prior quarter and fit the 3-5% decline HSBC had tracked in mid-September.
Segments
Mass baccarat, the city's largest revenue line, generated MOP33.61 billion in July-September, down 7.9% year on year and 4.4% from the prior quarter. The sequential drop was about MOP2.88 billion. Its share of casino GGR fell to 55.8% from 58.3% a year earlier.
The full mass segment, including slots and electronic tables, posted MOP43.31 billion, down 5.2% year on year for 71.9% of quarterly casino GGR. VIP baccarat inched up 0.1% to MOP16.91 billion and rose 6.3% from the prior quarter, with its share up to 28.1% from 27%. DICJ counts VIP by table classification inside integrated resorts, while the six concessionaires report differently, so the numbers are not directly comparable with company results. Slots stood out. They rose 18.8% to MOP4.09 billion for a 6.8% share against 5.5% a year earlier, while live multi-game electronic products fell 8% to about MOP1.14 billion.
What next
Outside casinos, football betting gross revenue reached MOP152 million, up 21% from the prior quarter and the highest single quarter since the third quarter of 2018. Nine-month GGR across all categories stood at MOP187.66 billion, leaving about MOP48 billion needed in the fourth quarter to meet the 2026 budget assumption of MOP236 billion ($29.2 billion). That bar sits below recent pace. Chief Executive Sam Hou Fai said the government keeps the forecast and will look at October revenue before any change. September was soft. GGR fell 1.2% year on year to MOP18.06 billion ($2.24 billion), the low for 2026. Arrivals topped one million in the first six days of October during Golden Week.
