Philippine operator DigiPlus said on 28 September it is taking all necessary steps to comply with Brazil's ban on online betting. The company described the situation as 'fluid' and noted that legislative and judicial processes remain ongoing. Priority is ensuring timely processing of customer withdrawals within the mandated deadlines.
The statement followed a provisional decree issued by President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva on 25 September that banned the organisation, offering, brokering and advertising of fixed-odds betting in the country. Brazil's Ministry of Health said the measure covers sports betting and online gaming, including those licensed at state and federal-district level. Other lottery categories permitted by law were not affected.
Under the official timeline, new deposits were prohibited from 25 September. Players could withdraw funds voluntarily until 23:59 on 5 October, and sites and apps were required to shut down on 6 October. Remaining balances are to be returned through banks between 9 and 14 October. Though the provisional decree requires congressional approval to become permanent law, it carries immediate legal force.
Brazil was the first international market for DigiPlus. The GamePlus platform began a soft launch on 22 September 2025, but the company paused it on 10 October the same year to develop products tailored to local players.
