yao-meta-skill — Claude Code skill: what it does, how to install
Builds, audits, and evaluates agent skills from workflows, scripts, and standard procedures. Operates across Scaffold, Production, Library, and Governed modes.
npx skills add yaojingang/yao-meta-skill --skill yao-meta-skill -a claude-codeWhat yao-meta-skill does
The skill turns recurring workflows, scripts, and procedures into structured agent skills. It keeps files lean by storing core guidelines in references/, executable scripts in scripts/, and test results in reports/. You choose between four operating modes: Scaffold, Production, Library, and Governed.
It skips one-off prompts, summaries, and translations. Skill creation requires repeated use alongside a reusable output contract. Route testing relies on trigger_eval.py, while package maintenance runs through scripts/yao.py.
Self-modification requires the explicit --self flag. Without it, safety boundaries lock file writes. In governed packages, unavailable telemetry or metrics cannot be fabricated and must be marked as missing evidence.
What it helps with
- convert standard operating procedures and scripts into structured skills
- test trigger routing and description matching with
trigger_eval.py - audit existing skill files and enforce output contracts
- package governed skills with verified trust reports and scorecards
Example prompts for the agent
- Create a new skill from this deployment workflow in Scaffold mode
- Evaluate trigger routing for the current skill using trigger_eval.py
- Run scripts/yao.py self-update --self --yes to upgrade the meta skill

Require `repeated use` + `reusable output contract`; skip one-offs. 2. Lock target path + identity before writes; self-edits require `--self`. 3. Capture job, output, exclusions, constraints, standards, mode. 4. Scan `3-5` useful external/user/local references. 5. Write `description` early; route edits need `trigger_eval.py`; release gates follow risk. 6. Add deeper profiles only when earned. Preserve labels literally when they apply: `file-backed fixture`, `input_files`, `output contract`, `rollback boundary`, `trust report`, `reports/output_quality_scorecard.md`, `missing evidence`. ## First-Turn Style - Infer non-core gaps; ask one core-fork question per round, max two, then use recorded preferred inference. - In Chinese, sound soft and companion-like; use [Intent Dialogue](references/intent-dialogue.md). ## Output Contract Builds: `SKILL.md`, aligned interface, justified assets, boundary/gate summary. Audits: findings + fixes; edit only when asked. No-skill: no files. ## Reference Map Primary: [Method](references/skill-engineering-method.md), [Artifact Design](references/artifact-design-doctrine.md), [Systems](references/systems-thinking-doctrine.md), [Governance](references/governance.md), [SkillOps](references/skillops-decision-policy.md).
