wt-switch-create — Claude Code skill: what it does, how to install
Creates a worktrunk worktree and switches the active session into it, optionally in another repository. Useful when isolating tasks or starting a session in a clean branch.
npx skills add max-sixty/worktrunk --skill wt-switch-create -a claude-codeWhat wt-switch-create does
The skill accepts an optional branch, repository path, and task prompt. If no branch name is provided, the agent derives one from the task description. When creating a worktree in the current repo, uncommitted edits are stashed via git stash push -u and reapplied in the new checkout.
You must have the wt CLI installed locally before using this command. When targeting another repository, the tool invokes wt -C, moves into the destination path, and reads root CLAUDE.md and AGENTS.md files so the agent follows the target repo instructions.
Moving into repos outside approved directories causes Claude Code to reset working directories unless the folder is listed in permissions.additionalDirectories.
What it helps with
- spin up an isolated worktree for a specific task
- switch the agent session into another repository
- transfer uncommitted changes into a newly created branch
- configure branch checkouts without manually typing CLI paths
Example prompts for the agent
- /wt-switch-create my-feature -- fix the parser bug
- /wt-switch-create feature-auth ~/workspace/backend -- update tokens
- /wt-switch-create quick-fix
