What vercel-networking-domains does

The skill packs Vercel's networking layer into one reference: adding domains and verifying ownership, DNS records, redirect and rewrite rules, custom headers and compression, CDN delivery, edge cache purging, and region selection for deployment and execution. The model pulls the relevant section when you ask it to configure a route or traffic rule.

It uses progressive disclosure. The entry point is a 90–110 token summary; the full text runs roughly 3800–4800 tokens. So it stays out of your context until you dig into a topic. You cannot invoke it by hand — the frontmatter sets user-invocable: false and disable-model-invocation: true, which makes it reference material rather than a slash command.

Sibling skills in the same collection cover functions and edge execution, deployments and builds, and observability. They are optional; this one works on its own. Worth installing if your project already runs on Vercel and you keep editing vercel.json or domain settings.

What it helps with

  • attach a domain and verify ownership
  • set up a redirect from an old URL
  • add security headers through config
  • purge the edge cache after a release
  • pick an execution region for a deployment

Example prompts for the agent

  • Add a redirect from /old-page to /new-page in vercel.json
  • Set a Cache-Control header for static assets and explain how the edge handles it
  • Help me choose deployment regions and describe the latency tradeoff

Questions about vercel-networking-domains

How do I install vercel-networking-domains in Claude?

Run npx skills add bobmatnyc/claude-mpm-skills --skill vercel-networking-domains -a claude-code. The skill file lands at ~/.claude/skills/vercel-networking-domains/SKILL.md.

What does vercel-networking-domains do?

It gathers Vercel's rules for domains, DNS, redirects, rewrites, headers, CDN, edge cache and regions in one place. The agent reads it when you need to change routing or traffic behavior.

Can I invoke this skill manually?

No. It sets user-invocable: false and disable-model-invocation: true, so it loads as reference material tied to the task at hand.

## Overview

Vercel networking covers domain configuration, routing rules, and edge delivery behavior through the CDN and edge cache.

## Domains and DNS

- Add domains and verify ownership.
- Configure DNS records for routing.

## Routing Rules

- Define redirects and rewrites for URL behavior.
- Apply custom headers and compression.

## CDN and Edge Cache

- Use CDN distribution for global delivery.
- Purge or invalidate edge cache when needed.

## Regions

- Select regions for deployment and execution.

## Complementary Skills

When using this skill, consider these related skills (if deployed):

- **vercel-functions-runtime**: Function routing and edge execution.
- **vercel-deployments-builds**: Deployment workflow and releases.
- **vercel-observability**: Traffic analytics and performance metrics.

*Note: Complementary skills are optional. This skill is fully functional without them.*
