tinybird-cli-guidelines — Claude Code skill for the Tinybird CLI
Tells your agent how to run tb commands: builds, deploys, local development and data operations.
npx skills add tinybirdco/tinybird-agent-skills --skill tinybird-cli-guidelines -a claude-codeWhat tinybird-cli-guidelines does
The skill drops a set of Tinybird CLI rules into your agent's context. Eleven files sit inside: development workflows, CLI commands, build and deploy, local development, branch development, CI/CD, data operations, appending data, mock data, tokens and secrets. The agent pulls the relevant one when you ask for something involving tb.
The core idea is the CLI 4.0 workflow. You configure dev_mode once, then plain tb build and tb deploy do the rest. The first targets the development environment set in tinybird.config.json — branch or local — while the second goes to Tinybird Cloud production. Flags --cloud, --local and --branch exist only as manual overrides. Check where you are with tb info, and test endpoints with tb endpoint data <pipe>, not tb pipe data.
One rule stands out: the agent verifies commands and flags with tb <command> --help instead of inventing them. That cuts down on made-up flags landing in a deploy script. If your repo already carries its own tb conventions, expect friction — decide which set wins before you install this.
What it helps with
- build a project and ship it to production without guessing flags
- pick between local development, a branch and the cloud
- set up a CI/CD pipeline for a Tinybird project
- append, replace or delete data from the command line
- generate mock data for tests
Example prompts for the agent
- build the project and deploy it to Tinybird Cloud
- show me which environment I'm working in right now
- test this pipe's endpoint against mock data
