What tesla-fleet-api does

The skill equips coding agents with a set of Python scripts to interact with the official Tesla Fleet API. You run command.py to trigger HVAC preconditioning, adjust seat climate, lock doors, or wake sleeping vehicles. To inspect battery state or climate statistics, vehicle_data.py outputs readable text or raw JSON.

Signed vehicle actions rely on bundled shell scripts start_proxy.sh and stop_proxy.sh for the local proxy. Runtime files, cached lists, and keys reside in {workspace}/tesla-fleet-api/. The tool does not load .env files. Parameters must exist as shell environment variables or inside config.json.

Running these scripts requires python3 and openssl in your PATH. You also need an active developer application providing TESLA_CLIENT_ID and TESLA_CLIENT_SECRET.

What it helps with

  • Check battery state and climate telemetry from the terminal
  • Trigger remote HVAC start and seat temperature adjustments
  • Configure departure preconditioning schedules
  • Manage charging limits and wake resting vehicles

Example prompts for the agent

  • Check current battery level using vehicle_data.py
  • Start climate control at 21 degrees with command.py climate temps 21
  • Set battery charge limit to 80 percent
