telegram — Claude Code skill: read, search, send messages
Hands your coding agent a Telegram CLI: read chats, search across them, reply, moderate groups and export history to files.
npx skills add skillhq/telegram --skill telegram -a claude-codeWhat telegram does
The skill installs a telegram command-line tool and tells the agent when to reach for it. Unread mail comes up with telegram inbox; telegram chats lists conversations and can filter by type. You can pull the last messages from one chat, or a DM by @username or numeric ID. Search runs inside a single chat or globally.
Sending covers DMs, group posts and replies to a specific message ID. Group management is there too: member and admin lists, promoting someone with a custom admin title, kicking a user, handing over ownership. Muting takes a duration or stays permanent, folders sort chats, and telegram sync writes history to markdown — add --resume and later runs fetch only what is new.
First-time setup needs API credentials from https://my.telegram.org/apps plus a login through telegram auth. Ownership transfer cannot be undone: you drop to a regular admin or member and only the new owner can hand it back. Telegram also blocks the transfer for about 24 hours after a fresh login and about 7 days after a two-step verification password change, and the command only accepts supergroups and channels.
What it helps with
- check unread Telegram messages without opening the app
- search every chat for a keyword at once
- reply to one specific message by its ID
- export a chat's history into markdown files
- unmute a work group or silence a noisy one
Example prompts for the agent
- Show me my unread Telegram messages
- Search the “Project” chat for anything about the deadline this week
- Sync the last 30 days of chat history into
~/exports
